HOLIDAY HAIRSTYLE: FUN AND FESTIVE BOWS

Bows are not just for presents anymore! No matter your hair type, curly or straight, thick or thin, a bow could be the perfect addition to that fantastic holiday outfit! Keep reading to see my four favorite holiday bow hairstyles.

Soft curls (aka Victoria Secret Angel locks) are a gorgeous look for any holiday party. For this style, I used my curling wand and brushed out the curls to create these cascading waves. Once I had the curls set, I teased the hair around my face and then pulled it all back with the bow.

P1020296 (2)

A sleek side do is always a great go-to holiday hairstyle. All you have to do is add a few soft curls to your hair, pull it to the side, and clip the bow right above your hairband. Super simple!

Want a more formal look? Try a high bun with a bow! Start by teasing the top of your hair to create more volume. Then, tilt your head upside down and make a messy bun. If you notice a few loose strands, tame them with hairspray and then top it off by clipping a medium sized bow just below the bun.

P1020289 (2)

For a super simple and quick hairstyle, I love pulling back one side of my hair in a bow. For this, a smaller bow works best so it doesn’t over do the look.

STAY HEALTHY THIS HOLIDAY WITH A BOOST OF VITAMIN C

P1020242

The dreaded Christmas cold or feverish flu can definitely destroy any ounce of joy during this time of the year and put a big damper on your holiday cheer. If you’ll soon be hugging a lot of family and friends, think of how many germs you will soon be exposed to… eek!  Want to avoid getting sick and get through the season illness-free? Then boost your vitamin C!

P1020265

Vitamin C is the ultimate powerhouse nutrient that protects your overall health by boosting your immune system. Not only can a little extra Vitamin C help you stay healthy, it clears your body of unhealthy toxins. You know… the toxins from all those delicious sugar cookies and grandma’s special bars that are pretty much impossible to pass up. Plus, Vitamin C helps reduce stress –and is there a more stressful and chaotic holiday than Christmas? I don’t think so!  And more stress equals more pimples! Uh oh…

P1020230

And Vitamin C isn’t just good for your health – it does wonders for your skin too! Want a continuously glowing, blemish-free complexion through the holidays? Maybe it’s time to invest in a Vitamin C serum! Ever since I started using my Enza Essentials Vitamin C Serum a few months ago, my skin has become incredibly soft!

Here’s to a happy, healthy, stress-free holiday!

EIGHT THINGS “BEAUTY” I’M THANKFUL FOR

12310674_10208161853950008_3908361385017639966_n

Sister. I love having a sister and couldn’t be more grateful for the friendship we share. We’ve always been super close. Plus, having a second closet to choose from when deciding what to wear is the best feeling ever! Did I also mention I’m thankful for her sharing abilities?!

Curling Wand. Having naturally curly hair is both a blessing and a curse. You never quite know how your curls are going to look in the morning. I can’t tell you how many times my curling wand has saved the day!

12294729_10208159976063062_6493052815813432796_n

Coffee. When it comes to those unbearable 8 a.m classes, coffee is a god send. Not only does it make me appear more human, it acts as my most fashionable accessory on days when I’m rocking yoga pants and an over-sized sweatshirt.

Perfume. Silly I know, but smelling good just makes me happy. I love spraying on my own special scent in the morning or before heading out on that special date!

12299351_10208160030024411_6079307038113391206_n

Enza Products. I’m so grateful for ALL of my Enza Products and for the confidence they have given me to put my best face forward every day. Pimple free equals a happier me!

Shoes. I seriously can’t have enough shoes. Buying a new pair of shoes is like sampling Godiva Chocolates for the first time. Excitement takes over and nothing can stop you from indulging!

Chapstick. I hate to admit it, but I’m a more-than-occasional lip licker. End result… dry, irritated lips. Thank you chapstick for bringing back my smile!

Parents. I’ve learned so much from them over the years. One of the most important life lessons they have taught me, that I believe to be true, is that beauty starts from the inside. A kind, compassionate heart is a beautiful heart!

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Happy Thanksgiving Beauties!

MY DECEMBER FAVORITES

Knock knock – it’s December 1st at the door! And honestly, I couldn’t be more excited. It really is one of my favorite times of the year. Between putting up decorations, drinking endless cups of hot cocoa, spending time with loved ones, and watching all the classic Christmas movies, I am in LOVE with this month. Today I want to share with you my favorite skin products for December.  Plus, they all make great stocking stuffers (hint, hint).

IMG_7416

SPF. Even though it’s winter, it’s cold, and it’s snowy, you still need to wear sunscreen every day. This Advanced Protection SPF 30 is a fantastic moisturizer AND it protects your precious December skin from the elements. It’s the best.

IMG_7418

Eye Cream. December is known for being one of the more stressful months of the year. All those late nights worrying about gifts, dinner parties, traveling, and your mother-in-law can lead to fine lines and wrinkles around your eye area. But no worries! Enza’s EyeBright Intensive Eye Creme  helps eliminate those crow’s feet that are starting to appear.

IMG_7421

Hydra Gel. This month is pretty brutal on skin. And when you need some extra hydration for your complexion, reach for Enza Essential’s Hydra Gel. It’s one of my favorite products for this time of year because it really does give my skin a huge burst of moisture when I need it. I won’t go through winter without it!

IMG_7425

Lip Treatment. Not only do I love this product in December, but all year around as well. I never, EVER go to bed without applying my Lip Treatment! I always wake up with the most amazing and hydrated pout.

IMG_7430

Tantasia. Who doesn’t want the perfect glow when you’re seeing all of your family and friends this month? Jane Iredale’s Tantasia gives skin subtle color without damaging it with UV rays. And, it doesn’t smell nasty like an average self-tanner.

What are some of your must-have December skin products? -xo Kayla

Merry Christmas!

As the hustle and bustle of the holidays begins to come to a close, don’t forget what this season is all about. Even though the packed malls may make us crazy, the gift-giving seems impossible and the holiday party planning only stresses us out, now is the best time to forget your stresses and enjoy the time with your family, friends and loved ones.

From all of us at Enza Essentials, Merry Christmas!

Stressing Your Skin

Now that it’s hitting the peak of the holiday season, this may indicate that the holiday stress is in full strength. Our hope is that you have not been caught stressing your way though the holidays, but in case have been– stop– and think about what your most wonderful time of the year-stress is doing to your skin.

Because stress affects your entire body, including your skin, the most crucial part of your current stress is how you decide to handle it. Affects of stress on the skin can include:

  • Making your skin more sensitive and reactive
  • An increased difficulty to heal skin problems
  • Increased production of cortisol- leading to oily skin and breakouts
  • Worsened skin conditions including psorasis, rosacea, and rashes
  • A duller, worn-out appearance

While these effects are not permanent, they may be uncomfortable, irritating, or embarrassing. However, with a little planning ahead, mental preparation, and time for yourself, you can beat the stress and be able to show off your gorgeous skin all season long.

var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push([‘_setAccount’, ‘UA-37030924-1’]); _gaq.push([‘_setDomainName’, ‘blogspot.com’]); _gaq.push([‘_setAllowLinker’, true]); _gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’]); (function() { var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true; ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();

Don’t Want to Look Like Santa this Winter…

Whether it’s the whipping winds, the frigid air, or the snow that seems never ending this time of year, don’t let the weather get the best of your glowing appearance.

The first step in avoiding winter redness and signs of rosacea is to keep your skin covered up. Wearing hats, gloves, scarves, etc. will be your first line of defense from harsh winter weather. It’s also important to apply sunscreen to your face and other exposed areas daily and limit sun exposure in order to minimize redness.

While redness and rosacea symptoms are annoying and often irritating, they are usually harmless. Nevertheless, your appearance may still affect self-esteem, confidence, etc. So to rid yourself of any redness that may already be making you look like a rosy-cheeked Santa Clause– try using a Serum to reduce the appearance of red and rosacea- prone skin.

So no matter what the weather, how cold it is, how brutal the winds are, you can flaunt your natural glowing complexion all year round.

var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push([‘_setAccount’, ‘UA-37030924-1’]); _gaq.push([‘_setDomainName’, ‘blogspot.com’]); _gaq.push([‘_setAllowLinker’, true]); _gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’]); (function() { var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true; ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();

An Elephant Never forgets…

But sometimes we humans do. Between the lists, the cards, and the gift exchanges, it is easy to forget someone on your shopping list. Did you remember your kid’s bus driver? Teacher? Your boss? Or what about that awkward situation when you receive a gift from someone you didn’t think to get a gift for. In these cases, it is essential to have a few “universal gifts” to have on hand as a back-up plan. Here are a few gifts to keep around for those “just in case” moments!

  • Gift Cards- Always appreciated and will never go to waste.
  • Homemade jam/jelly- From the heart & made with love.
  • Lotion/ Scented candles- With the dry, cold weather, these types of gifts are always appreciated.
  • Winter Wear- Hat, gloves, scarves- Bundle up fashionably and creatively.
  • Accessories- For women: headbands, scarves, necklace, earrings. For men: tie, cuff links, sunglasses, headphones.
  • Baked Goods- A staple for the holiday season.
Try out any of these gift ideas, and no one will ever know you forgot!

var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push([‘_setAccount’, ‘UA-37030924-1’]); _gaq.push([‘_setDomainName’, ‘blogspot.com’]); _gaq.push([‘_setAllowLinker’, true]); _gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’]); (function() { var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true; ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();

Fireplace Drinks

What better way to relax after a long day than curling up by the fireplace with a warm drink in hand. There’s always the traditional fall-back drinks: hot cocoa, hot cider, tea- but why not give yourself a little bit of a treat by jazzing up the basics. Here are some of our favorite warm drinks for winter!

  1. Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate: Pour 1 cup of coca mix into a slow cooker and stir in 8 cups of hot water. Mix. Stir in 3/4 cup of chocolate syrup. Cover and cook on low heat for 3-4 hours. Wisk in 1/4 cup of peanut butter and 2 teaspoons of vanilla until smooth. Serve warm and enjoy!
  2. Eggnog Latte: Pour together 1/3 cup of 2%milk and 2/3 cup of eggnog into a steaming pitcher. Heat between 145-165 degrees. Brew one shot of espresso and pour into your mug. Pour steamed milk and eggnog mix over the espresso. Sprinkle nutmeg on top for garnish and flavor!
  3. Cranberry-Orange Tea Sipper: Combine 3 cups of cranberry-raspberry drink  and one cup of water into a medium saucepan. Once water is boiling, add 4 bags of orange spice flavor tea and remove from heat. Let stand for 4 minutes. Then, remove tea bags and stir in 1/2 cup of orange juice and heat through. Serve warm and with a cinnamon stick, if desired!

Treat yourself and let off some steam with these delicious winter drinks!  var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push([‘_setAccount’, ‘UA-37030924-1’]); _gaq.push([‘_setDomainName’, ‘blogspot.com’]); _gaq.push([‘_setAllowLinker’, true]); _gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’]); (function() { var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true; ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();

Make an Entrance

Here’s the situation: You’ve been so busy at work, planning your party, finishing your Christmas shopping, and writing out your Christmas cards that you’ve left no time to find a dress, do your hair or makeup for the party you’re invited to tonight. What do you do? Well you can cross panicking right off the list and begin your deciding after reading these few tips.

  • Choose a Dress for your shape: For a fuller figure, try emphasizing the details on the dress- pleats ruffles, or fringe (not all together) can show off your shape without adding volume. And for a more petite shape, try a fitted dress that will stand out and show off your frame.
  • Skip the Traditional: The easy out is always the little black dress. Or for holiday parties, a simple red dress to match the season. But drop the dress you’ve worn every other year- challenge fashion rules and try something new!
  • Don’t forget Accessories: You can really add a splash of personality with the right jewelry  handbags, or shoes.
  • Makeup: Try a bright read lipstick, smokey eyes, fine eyeliner, shimmer, etc. Find what fits you and your outfit of choice!
  • Liquid Gold: For a bit of extra shimmer, try Enza’s Liquid gold on your face, neck and any skin exposed on your chest. This silky smooth liquid will make your skin shine and your makeup really stand out!
Look your best this holiday season, and don’t be afraid to make an entrance!
