APPLY YOUR EYELINER LIKE A PRO WITH THESE THREE TIPS

Remember the first time you started using make-up? Did your eyes take on the appearance of a raccoon or your cheeks look like an abstract painting gone bad? Thinking back to my 13-year old self, I cringe at my somewhat horrifying make-up journey. I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to look at those utterly embarrassing throwback pictures! My biggest mistake back then? A heavy dose of eyeliner. Thankfully I’ve learned a thing or two about natural beauty – and can appreciate the art of subtle eyeliner. Keep reading to make sure your flicks are on fleek!

1. Buy the right products

Do your research! What brand of eyeliner will last the entire day and go on effortlessly? My personal favorite is Jane Iredale’s Black eye pencil – simple and sleek with one smooth application.

2. Sit down for the perfect angle

Find a comfortable chair, take a seat and then place a mirror on your lap. While looking slightly down at the mirror, carefully apply your eyeliner in the groove between your lashes and lash line. You won’t believe how easy it is and how amazing it looks!

3. Keep it light on your lower lashes

Unless you’re the lead singer in a heavy metal band, avoid applying a lower lash line that is too thick. For more natural and soft definition, apply a short stroke of color under the outer corner of your lower lashes. Finish it off with a smudging brush, blending the liner in toward the center.

Lastly, it’s important to keep the skin around your eye looking smooth. To eliminate those highly annoying fine lines, use Enza Essential’s Eyebright Intensive Eye Crème.

Chalk it up to another Hallmark holiday to give us yet another excuse to dress and look our very best. Is there a better time to break out that cute outfit than Valentine’s Day? I don’t think so! Whether you’re going out on a romantic date with your sweetheart or hitting the town with your besties, here are five tips to knock your look out of the ballpark.

DAZZLE IN GOLD THIS NEW YEARS EVE

Have you found that stunning and striking outfit to ring in 2016? As much as I love the classic black dress with a red lip, I decided to switch it up this year with a cream and gold sequin dress. Still gorgeous AND sporting some sparkle – an absolute must for New Years Eve!

I love the softness of the cream chiffon skirt paired with glamorous gold sequins. Not only is it an elegant color combination, the fitted top creates a super flattering look!

Strappy nude sandals are the perfect complement to the neutral-toned dress. Not too flamboyant – just a timeless and classic look.

For the most kissable lips, I used Jane Iredales Tangerine Lip Gloss, a shiny yet subtle lip color. This is a definite must-apply right before the ball drops!

And before heading out for the night, add a light layer of Enza Essentials Liquid Gold to your face prior to applying concealer and powder. You deserve to treat yourself to a little bit of luxury this special night.

BE UNFORGETTABLE: ROCK THE RED LIP

Red lipstick, if applied the right way, can do wonders with your appearance! It can transform even the most basic black dress into something strikingly chic. This versatile lip is great for a day in the office or a stylish party with friends. These are the kind of lips that will make you forget about looking at a woman’s cute pair of shoes. Who knew that was even possible? Although, it can be tricky to perfect the art of applying it just right. You definitely don’t want to end up looking like that two-year-old from next door that accidentally got into her mother’s make-up. To avoid this mishap, follow my step-by-step tutorial so you too will be able to rock the red lip!

First, it’s important to start with a lip moisturizer to maintain healthy, nourished lips. I love Enza Essentials Lip Treatment because it is super long lasting. So, unlike chapstick, you don’t have to re-apply it every five seconds allowing you to keep your red lip intact even longer!

Next, find the perfect shade. If your complexion is prone to redness, use a sheer, blue-based color. Medium skin ladies are incredibly lucky- you can pretty much pull off any hue! For darker skin, choose reds with a brown base. Since my skin type is medium and slightly prone to redness, I’m using Jane Iredale’s Crimson Lip Pencil!

Using your pencil, start by drawing a diagonal line from the top of your lip till you reach the bottom of the other side. Do the same thing on the other side to create an X-shape. Next, trace the bottom edge of your lower lip to create a line that is equal in width to the X-shape above. Following this, add four smaller lines closer to the outer edges of your lips. Then proceed to connect all lines to outline the entire lip. Now that you have your basic shape, fill it in! Finish with a gloss and voila! You’re ready to rock a bold, red lip!

HALLOWEEN HOW TO: DEER MAKE-UP

Oh, deer dear, Halloween is coming up soon! I absolutely LOVE this time of the year. It’s so much fun getting dressed up and acting silly with your friends, and the more creative, the better! If you’re still contemplating what to be this year, try this adorable, simple deer look!

Start by highlighting the tops of your cheeks, middle of your forehead, and along your cupids bow. I’m using Jane Iredale’s concealer (disappear) for a perfectly highlighted look.

Next, contour your eyes with nude shadows: Apply a cream shade to the center of your eyelid and the inside corner of your eye. Then blend brown shades in the crease area and outside corner. I love using Jane Iredale eye shadow (cappuccino) to create that pop of color in the crease area.

Once your lids are finished, line your eyes with black or brown liquid liner. I’m using Jane Iredale black/brown liquid liner to create dark bold lines.

After you’ve drawn your liner, coat your lashes with black mascara to make your eyes really pop!

Then, using a black pencil, create a deer nose by tracing the tip of your nose.

Lastly, draw small dots using a white pencil across your nose and upper cheeks.

BEST IN BEAUTY: MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS 2015

In case you missed it, last night aired the MTV Video Music Awards and it was definitely a night to remember! The Red Carpet was filled with beachy waves, cat eyes, and unforgettable attire. Here are my 5 favorite beauty looks of the night:

1. Lily Aldridge

If there was a category for best beach waves at the award show, Lily would obviously take home the gold. Her effortless waves and natural makeup look amazing with this black plunging gown. I cannot get over how bright her skin is, too! She looks like a slightly sun-kissed goddess. To get a bronze glow like Lily’s without the damage, try Jane Iredale’s Tantasia ($36, janeiredale.com).

2. Taylor Swift

Taylor, oh how I envy you. My girl was looking fierce as ever last night with this sleek ponytail and heavy winged liner. And her skin is ALWAYS spot on – so clear and even without a blemish in sight! I read that she applies SPF every single day to keep wrinkles and sun spots away.

3. Cara Delevingne

The Paper Towns star is known for her unique style and fashion trends and she certainly didn’t disappoint in that category last night. Also, no one can rock a deep side part quite like Cara can – am I right? Her bold brows and smoky eyes looked stunning at the award show, and her skin was my favorite part of all – her skin is always so hydrated! Be sure to keep your skin moisturized for a flawless finish like Cara’s.

4. Karlie Kloss

If summertime beauty was a person, it’d be Karlie. The model looked gorgeous in this tangerine embellished dress and tousled locks. I’m happy she kept her makeup to a minimum – she obviously was going for the radiantly natural look.

5. Kylie Jenner

I don’t know about you, but these blunt bangs are making me seriously consider getting a haircut soon. Kylie’s jet black ‘do and thick cat eye looked fab on the Red Carpet last night. Her dark lip and gorgeous skin helped to make this an unforgettable beauty look of the evening.

MY CURRENT FALL FAVORITES

Happy Friday, Babes! I hope you all had a wonderful week and are partaking in some final summer activities this weekend. Ready or not, autumn is almost here! Although I’m going to miss summer, here’s some fall beauty favorites that I’m going to be obsessing over the next few months:

Blushes in pink and red tones are going to be HUGE this fall season and I’m not complaining about it one bit! Warm hues are perfect for autumn styles, so I think I’ll be rocking this makeup look quite often – just like Karlie.

Miranda Kerr looking fierce as always in her OTK boots.

Nothing says cooler weather like a pair of fabulous over-the-knee boots, am I right? I think I’m going to have to purchase a pair in every single color…

Fall means out with the old and in with the new – which is why you need to get rid of all the dead skin cells from summer! Exfoliating 2 to 3 times a week is extremely beneficial for bright and glowing skin. My Fine Facial Polish will be at my side throughout the fall season. (And the rest of the year, too!)

I don’t know about you, but I’m all about a chic, smoky eye for the autumn season. This trend will be spotted on runways and Red Carpets over the next few months and I’m so excited. Jane Iredale’s Smoke Gets in Your Eyes eye shadow kit is perfect for creating a sultry look.
