MY FAVORITE SPRING LIP COLORS

Ladies – do you need some spring makeup ideas? Maybe a fresh new go-to lip color for the season? Well, you’re just in luck! I’ve narrowed down my FAVORITE Jane Iredale lip colors for spring and I’m so excited to share them with you!

ZDS_1336

If you’re looking for a color on the bolder side, this might be the perfect shade for you. This PureMoist Lipstick in Margi looks fabulous for date night or when you need to feel a little extra glammed up. And the best part about Jane Iredale PureMoist Lipstick is that it’s super hydrating and never makes my lips feel dried out.

ZDS_1332

I’m obsessed with wearing this color during the day to a graduation party or a backyard cookout. It adds just the right amount of chicness and shine to any outfit – day or night! This Soft Peach Lip Gloss is also very soothing when I apply it.

ZDS_1338

Ahhhhh, who doesn’t love a classic pink lip for springtime? It’s just so fun and pretty that you can’t go wrong! I’m wearing Jane Iredale’s PureMoist Lipstick in Renee – it’s one of my all-time favorite colors for any season!

ZDS_1340

I’m not sure if you’ve jumped on the coral lip bandwagon, but I know I certainly have! This color is SO hot this season and I couldn’t be happier. You can literally wear this on your pout 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – it’s so versatile! This Lip Fixation in Devotion stays on your lips all day into the night – it’s amazing. And it makes my lips feel so soft!

HOW TO LOOK AMAZING WHEN YOU’RE SICK

If you haven’t been hit with a cold yet this year, consider yourself very, VERY lucky. It seems like the sniffles always come at the worse possible time too – right before a big work presentation, a getaway weekend with the girls, or a family get-together that you’ve been looking forward to for months. When you’re feeling under the weather but don’t want to look like a total zombie, here are a few beauty hacks to put a little pep in your step!

ZDS_1115

Get hydrated.

Let me guess – you’ve blown your nose probably 85 times today and the skin around your sniffer is really starting to feel it. The best thing you can do is keep skin moisturized. This will cut down on flaky, red and painful skin, making it one less thing you have to worry about while trying to battle this awful cold. Enza Essentials Saturation Herbal Creme is packed with vitamins and botanicals to revitalize sensitive skin, returning your healthy glow.

SKINTIP: Drinking lots of fluids is another way to look and feel better faster. Keep that water bottle filled up at all times!

ZDS_1106

Open your eyes.

In my opinion, one of the most underrated beauty tools is an eyelash curler. In fact, I’m pretty sure that I’m the only one of my girlfriends who actually uses one! Nothing gives your eyes a pop quite like curled lashes do, even when you’re too exhausted to put on some mascara before dragging your sick self out the door. Seriously, it’ll help SO much.

ZDS_1108

Depuff, depuff, depuff.

Just because you’ve been up all night coughing doesn’t mean that you have to look like it! When the puffiness under your eyes starts to take over your entire face, fight back with the Eyebright Anti-Puffiness Gelee. It’ll instantly cool and soothe the delicate skin around your eyes, making you look super refreshed and healthy.

ZDS_1110

Pucker up.

A pop of color on your pout can make you look like a whole new woman. Try using a gloss instead of a lipstick – not only will this add extra moisture to your lips but will reflect light, giving you an even brighter complexion. I love this Jane Iredale PureGloss Lip Gloss color in Sugar Plum. It adds the perfect amount of color without drawing too much attention to my under-the-weather appearance.

3 TIPS FOR WINTER GLAM

Winter can sometimes feel like a drag. Your skin is pasty white, you have to wear a giant parka that totally kills your outfit whenever you leave the house, and honestly, you just don’t really ever feel like looking good because this season is hurting your soul. If you’re looking for a few tips to help you make it through the long winter, read these 3 ways to look great this season.

 1. Moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize some more! Most of us have super dry skin during the winter months so it’s important to keep our skin hydrated, especially our faces. When your skin is replenished, your complexion will look more even and your make-up will apply more smoothly. Try using Enza Essential’s Advanced Protection SPF 30 for hydration and protection against sun damage.

2. Gloss those lips. Winter is a perfect time to add some shine to your pout. I’m using Jane Iredale’s PureGloss Lip Gloss in Red Currant – the gloss adds a pop of shine while the color looks great for a day at the office or a night on the town. And, lip glosses are known to compliment any skin tone!

3. A neutral smoky eye is a must. Save those bright shadows for spring! Look gorgeous and chic this winter by playing up your eyes with nude colors – beige, brown, tan, gold. Not only can you rock this during the day, but you can quickly transition into night by intensifying your smolder with a dark brown.

WHAT’S IN MY BAG: BACK TO SCHOOL

I can’t believe it – I start class in less than a week! Every year, I always take the time to make sure I have everything planned and ready to go before the first day, so here’s what I’ll have packed in my school bag for my last “first day” ever!

IMG_7179

Water Bottle. It’s a must to keep my body and skin hydrated while in class. My purple water bottle literally goes with me EVERYWHERE.

Magazine. When I’m hanging out in between classes, I love to catch up on the latest styles and trends. I swear, I NEVER look at it in class though….. 🙂

Flash Drive. Being a college student, it’s so important to keep my documents, pictures, and files backed up and in one place. I don’t think I could have made it through college without one of these.

IMG_7192

Planner. I actually consider my pink planner my BFF. It does a fabulous job keeping track of my assignments, appointments, and to-do list.

Cell Phone. For obvious reasons.

Wallet. I always make sure I have my ID and a few bucks inside for a coffee fix if needed.

Perfume. This is my FAVE scent ever – it’s AEO’s Live and it smells like heaven in an adorable gold bottle. And the best part? One spritz lasts all day.

IMG_7187

Lip Gloss. My newest fall obsession is officially Jane Iredale’s PureGloss in Kir Royale. It’s the perfect autumn shade and I’ll look fabulous sitting in class with it on my lips.

IMG_7183

Gum/Snacks. It’s important to keep my tummy satisfied and breath smelling fresh at all times.

Toner. I keep this travel-size Cool Sustaining Toner in my bag for those days when I need a quick skin rejuvenation along with a few cotton pads.

Spot Extractor. It’s the WORST when a blemish pops up out of nowhere on my face so I always have the Spot Extractor handy to treat pimples on contact.

Lip Treatment. I love how soft and plump the Lip Treatment makes my pout feel, making it a must to have in my school bag.

MAKEUP TIPS FOR GLASSES

If you wear glasses every single day or just on occasion to give your eyes a rest from contacts (that’s me!), then read these super simple makeup tips to look gorgeous under those frames!

IMG_6554

Lids. When you’re rocking your specs, reach for an eye shadow that’s lighter and more neutral for your lid. Then, use a darker – but still neutral – shadow in your crease and slightly above. This will give your eyes some definition when they’re behind glasses. To get this look, try Jane Iredale’s PurePressed Eye Shadow in Sweet Spot.

Liner. When lining your eyes, use a dark brown or black liner. This will help your eyes stand out even when you’re wearing glasses. And always remember—the thicker the frames, the thicker the line. Gel liner is amazing for glasses-wearers because it really stands out and stays on. Jane Iredale’s Jelly Jar gel eyeliner is perfect for getting this look.

IMG_6585

Lashes. Applying mascara is probably the best thing you can do if you’re wearing glasses. Not only will your eyes look fabulous, but they’ll look bigger and brighter too. Swipe on the first coat, let it dry, then apply a second coat for even more definition. And don’t forget to curl your lashes! Try heating your lash curler up with a hair dryer for a few seconds—this will have the same effect as any hot tool and will give you even greater curl.

Lips. If you love some color and have used all your will-power to NOT apply a bright shadow to your lids, your lips are the ideal place to rock some hues. Bright lips will tie the heavier eye makeup look all together, creating a lovely appearance. I absolutely love wearing Jane Iredale’s PureGloss Lip Gloss in Red Currant on days that I wear my glasses.

IMG_6598

Face. Always make sure to have an even skin tone when you’re wearing glasses. You want to draw attention to your beautiful eyes, so keep your face simple with light foundation and a little pink blush on your cheeks. Also, make sure any dark circles under your eyes are concealed because thick frames can sometimes cause shadows under the eyes. To help fight those unwanted under eye bags, use Enza’s Eyebright Anti-Puffiness Gelee.

MY FAVORITE SUMMER LIP COLORS

If you happen to remember reading My Summer Bucket List post from a few weeks ago, I can officially say that I’ve checked off list item #1! I wanted to try some new colors for the summer and I found 4 of my favorites from mineral makeup line Jane Iredale. The best part about all of these lip colors is that Jane Iredale loads their preservative-free makeup with tons of vitamins and minerals so my lips never feel dried out!

Lips

1. Annette. This color is one of my all-time favorites. Although it is supposed to be a deep purple color, it appears more red on my lips because my lips are naturally dark. Annette is a perfect shade for an adorable sundress or a night on the town.

2. Karen. This shade of lip color is one that I believe is necessary for EVERY girl to own. It compliments all skin tones and any outfit you wish to pair with it. Karen is the perfect mix of a fun red and flirty pink color, making it a must-have for summer.

3. Sugar Plum. This color is one of Jane Iredale’s PureGloss Lip Glosses, and is literally everything. It’s bright pink color is very eye-catching and the glossy look makes it tasteful but sexy. I love wearing this Sugar Plum shade to backyard BBQ’s and picnics at the lake.

4. Renee. This creamy bubble gum pink color makes me feel so pretty and girly. It’s not too dark or too light and I feel like I can wear it to ANY occasion. Renee is a great color to wear all summer long!

What are some of your favorite summer lip colors?
