REVEAL YOUR ROMANTIC SIDE THIS VALENTINE’S DAY

Chalk it up to another Hallmark holiday to give us yet another excuse to dress and look our very best. Is there a better time to break out that cute outfit than Valentine’s Day? I don’t think so! Whether you’re going out on a romantic date with your sweetheart or hitting the town with your besties, here are five tips to knock your look out of the ballpark.

Proper exfoliating is the key for smooth, soft, touchable skin. I use a gentle scrub like Enza Essential’s Shea Butter Body Polish – it makes me feel like I just stepped out of an extravagant spa. Your special guy will be singing his own version of “Reach out and touch, somebody’s hand.”

Moisturize for even softer skin. Immediately after showering, apply a heavy moisturizer to reenergize your dry and thirsty skin. I like my Enza Essential’s Shea Body Butter which keeps my skin feeling fresh all night long!

Go for a natural, romantic hair-do (aka channel your inner Victoria Secret Angel). The last thing you want is your guy being afraid to mess up your perfect do. If your hair is long, try using a one-inch curler to create those perfect and effortless loose curls. Hello touchable, sexy hair!

Perfect those kissable lips. Exfoliate your lips with a scrub like Jane Iredales Sugar and Butter Lip Scrub. Then, apply your favorite lip balm and top it off with a pink or plum lip gloss.

Make a statement with a favorite scent. How a girl smells can be just as powerful as how she looks. For Valentine’s Day, opt for a soft, luxurious scent then apply a drop to your wrists and neck. Don’t overdo it though!

DRY BRUSHING: WHY YOU SHOULD START DOING IT

You’ve probably heard the term before, but do you actually know what dry brushing is? No, I don’t mean brushing your hair when it’s not wet, either. If you’d like to know how to get smoother and brighter skin, keep reading!

thumbs_72079-DryBrushing.jpg.660x0_q80_crop-scale_upscale

Dry brushing is a fabulous way to exfoliate your body and improve circulation. You want to use a brush that looks like one you hang in the shower, but has stronger bristles made from cactus. When you dry brush regularly, your body lotions and creams will absorb better into the skin, resulting in longer-lasting moisture.

Another amazing benefit of dry brushing? Your skin will actually become firmer. When you dry brush every other day, your circulation will improve dramatically, causing more blood to flow to your cellulite-prone areas. Your skin tone and texture will be much smoother, too!

Not sure what to do? Start at your feet and work your way up the backs of your legs to your neck using gentle, sweeping strokes in an upward motion. The best time to dry brush is right before you shower so you feel invigorated and refreshed. Also, if your skin is feeling sore, you’re pushing too hard – lighten up!

And remember to finish your body rejuvenation in the shower with Enza Essentials Shea Butter Body Polish!

CAN THE SHOWER RUIN YOUR SKIN?

6530-000097

I’m sure most of us are guilty of it – wake up, hop in the shower, wash your face, wash your hair. Or, maybe you scrub down at night and wash off your makeup in the shower then. Either way, cleansing your skin under your showerhead is a big mistake you need to stop making ASAP, ladies.

ZDS_1301

Sure, you may be saving an extra 2 or 3 minutes by quickly scrubbing your face in the shower with your favorite cleanser (mine is the Extraction Cleanser), but you’re certainly not doing your skin ANY favors. The strong water pressure from your shower is way too harsh for your delicate skin, causing tiny micro-tears that lead to premature aging, and we all know that nobody wants that. Ever.

ZDS_1304

The best place to wash your face? The sink. Not only is the pressure more gentle on your skin, but the water temperature will most likely be MUCH cooler than the piping-hot temperature you have your shower set at. Too hot of water dries out and damages skin, causing even more signs of premature aging. So, it’s best to leave your cleanser at the sink!

ZDS_1305

Another product to keep at your sink (or very close by)? Moisturizer. The best way to keep skin hydrated after showering is to apply your body lotion within 90 seconds of turning off the water – yes, that’s right! You want to lather up when your skin is still slightly damp to trap in the most moisture as possible. I leave my Enza Essentials Shea Body Butter on my sink at all times so I never miss out on that extra hydration from the shower!

SKIN PREP FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

Valentine’s Day is getting so close that I can almost smell the oversized chocolate hearts and bouquets of red roses – it’s only 4 days away! If you’ve got a date with your significant other or hitting the town with your girls, it’s a must to have your skin V-Day ready. Here’s how I’ll be prepping my skin for the big night!

ZDS_0870

To look fabulous for the day of love, it’s super important to rid off dead cells that have built up on your skin. That’s exactly why the night before Valentine’s Day, I’ll be using my Extraction Enzyme Peel to brighten my complexion. I simply apply a thin layer all over my skin and leave it on for 15 minutes. This is the perfect amount of time for me to narrow down a few outfit choices too!

ZDS_0867

Soft skin is ideal for any day of the year, but it’s definitely a necessity for Valentine’s Day. Enza Essentials Shea Butter Body Polish is the perfect exfoliant to use on your skin from head to toe. And it smells AMAZING! I use a Magic Mitt from Jane Iredale to apply the Body Polish in the shower. Remember to follow up immediately with the Shea Body Butter for your most touchable skin yet.

ZDS_0876

This specific holiday falls in the dead of winter and unfortunately, that means dry, stressed skin. I want my makeup to have a dewy and fresh look, so I’ll be applying Liquid Gold under my foundation. This product seriously hydrates and rejuvenates skin, while working as a fantastic makeup primer. I can’t live without it!

ZDS_0883

Now it’s time to give my pout a little TLC! Jane Iredale has a super amazing Sugar&Butter Lip Exfoliator/Plumper that works wonders on dry lips. I first use the sugar exfoliant side to get rid of any dead skin, then use the plumper side for a boost of volume and a tingly feel. I’ll finish off with Enza’s Lip Treatment for the most kissable and hydrated lips ever!

WINTER SKIN MUST-HAVES

IMG_7328

There’s really no way around it – winter is on its way. But before Jack Frost totally takes over, its helpful to be prepared not only with your winter jacket, snow boots, and packets of hot cocoa, but with your skin care products too! Here are my top picks for winter must-haves:

IMG_7332

Moisturizer. This is a must-have year ’round, but especially during winter time. The dry and cold air can wreck havoc on your skin, so it’s important to keep it hydrated at all times. Enza’s Shea Body Butter does a wonderful job of locking in moisture and protecting your skin. And it smells fantastic.

IMG_7330

Lip Treatment. I think it’s safe to say that no one wants dry, cracked lips this season, so it’s very necessary to keep your pout hydrated and replenished. Enza’s Lip Treatment boosts the collagen product in your lips while rejuvenating them with lots of moisture. I NEVER go to bed without applying my Lip Treatment!

IMG_7322

Exfoliator. Exfoliate, exfoliate, and exfoliate again! This routine will slough off those nasty dead cells and prevent excess dryness this winter. But remember, exfoliate longer and not harder – three times a week in gentle circular motions is all you need for a winter-ready complexion! Try using the Fine Facial Polish for a perfect exfoliation.
