THE NUMBER ONE SKIN CARE MISTAKE YOU’RE MAKING AT THE GYM

Treadmills, ellipticals and exercise bikes. Sounds scary, right? As someone who frequents the gym, I love working up a healthy sweat. OK, maybe I don’t LOVE sweating but I DO love the satisfaction of staying fit and putting my health at the top of my To Do list. There’s nothing more exhilarating than finishing a workout, muscles fatigued and mind reenergized. But did you know there’s one common mistake people make during their workouts? Rubbing their face.

When-Replace-Gym-Towels

When we work out, our internal temperature rises, causing our capillaries to dilate. As our face releases the extra heat and sweat, we quickly grab for that towel to swipe the sweat off our hot and sensitive skin. Unfortunately, all that rubbing elevates redness and blocks our pores, leading up to — you guessed it — major breakouts!

Before you start pumping more iron or sprinting on the treadmill, think twice about wiping your face with a towel.  Avoid unwanted redness by taking a soft towel and gently patting the sweat off your face.

And if you can’t break the habit, try a cooling serum like Enza Essentials RosaCalm to tame redness and calm reactive skin. The solution is really that simple. 🙂

FIVE BEAUTY RESOLUTIONS THAT WILL BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE

Want to refresh and brighten your appearance in 2016? Follow these five beauty resolutions and you’ll be well on your way to a new and more confident you.

IMG_7464

Use SPF each and every day – even during the winter months. If you dream about maintaining that youthful 20-year-old complexion into your 30’s and 40’s, then bring on the SPF! Not only does it prevent skin cancer, it reduces wrinkles, dark spots, and uneven skin tone. Need I say more?

Never sleep with your make-up on. I know, this can be challenging when we’re exhausted after a long day and just want to fall into bed. To keep skin looking luminous and healthy, remove the day’s dirt and toxins – even if that means stashing facial wipes in your nightstand!

001

Moisturize your skin! Flaky, red or irritated skin can be a major confidence buster. Whatever your skin type – dry, oily or sensitive – you shouldn’t skimp on a daily moisturizer. Want silky soft skin? Try Enza Essentials Shea Body Butter or Sustaining Glow Crème – your skin will thank you!

Fit a facial mask into your skin care routine. Consider it your weekly “deep cleanse” – clearing pores of dead skin cells and bringing extra moisture to keep your skin looking smooth and flawless. My favorite is Enza Essential’s Pore Extraction Masque, I can feel the difference in my skin after just one application.

Experiment with a new and daring look. Unleash your creativity and step out of your beauty comfort zone. Every few weeks, brave a bold red lip or wear a funky accessory. Who knows? You might end up loving it!

Here’s to a more confident and beautiful you in 2016!

Happy New Year Beauties!

Soak tea bags in cold water for at least 15 seconds. To get the best results, try to find teas that are rich in antioxidants! Once the bags have soaked long enough, place one cold tea bag on each eye and let it rest for five minutes. Pat it dry and you will see your eyes rejuvenated!

GET YOUR GLOW BACK

Have you been feeling a bit… blah and less than luminous lately? I feel ya! As the weather gets colder, I feel as though my skin keeps getting duller. As women, we naturally want to stand out- no one wants to look tired or dull. Sometimes a couple changes in your skin care routine are all it takes to turn your “blah” skin into a glowing masterpiece! Look no further than these three skin-care tips!

Exfoliate: It’s amazing how something so tiny can feel so huge. Enlarged pores are probably one of the most common beauty complaints! To remove any impurities, start exfoliating regularly. Exfoliating removes dull surface cells and helps to even and brighten skin tone. Try Enza Essentials Fine Facial Polish as an effective, gentle scrub! Perk: It can also be used as a masque!

IMG_9708

Moisturize: Slather on a moisturizer while your face is still damp. This will plump and improve the appearance of fine lines as skin drinks up the moisture. To maintain hydration and revitalize stressed skin, try Enza Essentials Sustaining Glow Crème.

Drink water: Water acts as a skin superhero by clearing the toxins that cause inflammation and blemishes. It also assists in transporting nutrients and oxygen to skin cells, and preventing dehydration, which can cause premature aging. The recommended amount is at least 8 glasses per day- drink up ladies!

ARE YOU WASHING YOUR FACE CORRECTLY?

It may seem like a pretty straightforward concept – squirt some cleanser into your hands, scrub your face, rinse with water, and dry off. Most of us do this everyday (hopefully twice a day!) and don’t put too much thought or effort into it. But, there actually are a few face-washing mistakes that many of us do every time we begin our skin care routine. Keep reading to find out if you’re guilty of any!

Mistake #1: Your hands are dirty.

It may seem silly, but before you wash your face, you NEED to wash your hands. In fact, you shouldn’t even think about touching your face without freshly-cleansed hands ever. It’s so important to expose your face to as little bacteria as possible, and we all know how nasty our hands can be.

Mistake #2: The water is too hot.

Since cooler weather is quickly approaching, it’s very tempting to use hot water when washing your face. Truth is, hot water washes away skin’s protective oils, leaving it dry, tight, and itchy. Instead, use lukewarm water – the lower temperature is much less harsh on your delicate skin.

IMG_7670

Mistake #3: You’re only washing once.

When you only wash your face once, you’re really only cleansing the dirt, makeup, and bacteria that’s on the surface of your skin. To get an even deeper clean, wash a second time to get the oil and bacteria that’s hiding down in your pores. I cleanse my skin twice every night with my Extraction Cleanser – it leaves my skin feeling amazing.

Mistake #4: You’re not following up.

So you’ve taken my advice above and correctly washed your face – great job! But, is that all you’re doing? Cleansing just provides a blank canvas for the rest of your skincare regimen. Even if you’re extremely low-maintenance, be sure to follow up with a toner (to balance skin tone and minimize pores) and a moisturizer for your best skin possible.

Are you committing any of these cleansing crimes? -xo Kayla
